Job description

Priory Hospital Preston is looking to recruit a deputy ward manager to join the team on our acute ward. This is a full time 37.5 hour role based in Bartle, near Preston. Priory Hospital Preston is a 50‑bedded mental health facility offering a wide range of services across four wards, supporting adult males and females with acute mental health needs and eating disorders, and specialising in the management and treatment of these conditions.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a compassionate team committed to our patients’ wellbeing, using a personalised approach and proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future.

Job responsibilities

As deputy ward manager you will:

  • Assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans.
  • Undertake routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate the wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
  • Provide clinical supervision and support to team members where required.
Qualifications
  • First level Registered Nurse (RMN).
  • Clinical supervision experience is essential; training is desirable.
  • Evidence of CPD and an intention to maintain and develop CPD and leadership skills.
  • Good computer skills and experience in Acute Mental Health.
  • At least three years post‑registration experience.
  • Mentorship experience is desirable; training can be provided.
