Job summary

The New Vic is seeking an experienced Deputy Stage Manager for a fixed-term production of Gladstone Girls. The role runs from 4 January to 27 February 2027, with a 43-hour week across Monday to Saturday.

Salary is £561.60 per week (£29,203.20 per annum), with additional subsistence of £235 per week for eligible applicants living more than 25 miles away. Applicants should have demonstrable backstage experience in a professional or educational setting and a flexible, can-do approach.

Summary

We are looking for an experienced Deputy Stage Manager on a fixed term basis to support the creation and delivery of our upcoming production of Gladstone Girls.

Salary: £561.60 per week (£29,203.20 per annum).

For anyone who lives over 25 miles from the theatre, subsistence of £235.00 per week will also be paid in line with the UK Theatre/Equity Agreement for Performers and Stage Management contracted by Subsidised Managers.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable backstage experience in a professional or educational environment. A can-do attitude and a positive, flexible approach to the job role, work colleagues and peers is essential.

The New Vic works within the guidelines laid down by the Equity / UK Theatre Agreement for Actors and Stage Management. The working week is from Monday to Saturday and shall consist of 43 hours distributed across this time. As a busy producing house, it is expected that overtime will be incurred on production weeks. Sunday calls are very rare and will be paid at the appropriate overtime rate.

The deadline for applications is Friday 25 September 2026 at 10am. Interviews will be held weeks commencing 5 and 12 October 2026. Expected start date is Monday 4 January 2027.
