Job Overview

An exciting opportunity within the Specialty for a Deputy Sister, Band 6 with 2 years post graduate experience. We offer a supportive teamwork structure and an opportunity to further your leadership and management skills.

Responsibilities
  • Provide the highest standards of nursing care for patients in dermatology, including light therapy, photodynamic therapy and specialist clinics.
  • Work closely with all members of the nursing team, including the Matron, other Deputy Sisters and the multidisciplinary team, contributing to the development of a highly skilled workforce.
  • Act as a role model and teacher during regular clinical sessions, ensuring standards of care are maintained and patient experience meets expectations.
  • Support the Matron in seeking and evaluating evidence-based practice and continual improvement of dermatology care.
  • Improve and maintain standards of essential nursing care by using clinical benchmarking, audit and professional guidelines.
  • Identify common issues affecting the quality of care, devise clear action plans, and ensure agreed actions are undertaken.
  • Plan appropriate staffing levels and skills, schedule staff daily, deploy staff appropriately, and liaise with other departments.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews, facilitate team members' objectives and personal development plans.
  • Facilitate return-to-work sickness/absence reviews in conjunction with the Matron/Deputy Sister.
  • Identify hazards relating to clinical and non-clinical risks, conduct risk assessments, and promote a culture of governance.
Qualifications

• Band 6 nurse with at least 2 years of post graduate experience.

Compensation

Salary will be quoted on a pro rata basis for part-time workers.
