Job summary

Stockport NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Deputy IT Manager for Laboratory IT to ensure high-quality service delivery across pathology IT systems and assets. You will support clinical and non-clinical IT platforms, train users, and drive improvements within ISO 15189 guidelines.

You will engage with the Directorate on policy, participate in strategy groups, and monitor performance against national and local targets, while contributing to monthly workload reporting and system archiving projects.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering IT services in a pathology or hospital setting.
  • Ability to manage clinical and non-clinical IT systems and provide first-line support.
  • Experience training and developing users on pathology and hospital systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day IT systems in pathology, including statistics and monitoring.
  • Provide IT support across Laboratory medicine and lab systems.
  • Develop and train users for Pathology and Hospital systems (Telepath, Review, tQuest, Keystone, DAWN, etc).
  • Contribute to ISO 15189 compliance and IT governance.
  • Represent the department in meetings and strategy groups.
  • Monitor service standards against national plans and local requirements.
  • Produce monthly pathology workload statistics.
  • Undertake project work for service developments and corporate agenda.
  • Oversee IT asset management and stock control of consumables.

Job description

Deputise for and assists the Laboratory IT Manager in order to maintain a high quality service within the resources available.

Key Responsibilities
  • The day-to-day management of clinical and non-clinical IT systems within pathology (includes collating of statistics and monitoring systems).
  • To provide IT support across Laboratory medicine. This covers clinical, and non-clinical lab systems, plus first line support for other IT equipment.
  • To manage, develop, maintain, and train users for various Pathology and Hospital systems including Telepath, Review, tQuest, Keystone, DAWN, Blood Track, Roche Vantage, and Sectra Digital Pathology.
  • To be a member of the Directorate team providing policies and procedures meeting ISO 15189 accreditation and guidelines within National programme for IT.
  • To represent the department at relevant meetings or strategy groups and support decision-making on behalf of the department
  • To continuously monitor standards of service in line with the National plan, local requirements, activity, and financial targets.
  • To produce monthly statistics covering Pathology departmental workloads.
  • To undertake project work as required by the department.
  • To undertake specific tasks to assist in the delivery of the corporate agenda.
  • To stock control IT consumables and equipment within the department.
  • To be responsible for IT Asset management.
  • To be responsible for Regular Data archiving of the Laboratory information system to ensure data integrity and validity.
  • To support the production of business cases in support of service developments as directed by senior Pathology management.
