We areseeking a Deputy Medical Director to join our senior leadershipteam, workingacross a Directorate that includes Pharmacy, Dental, Optometry and the Revalidation Support Unit.This role offers a unique opportunity to influence postgraduate medical education and drive workforce transformation at a national level.

As Deputy Medical Director, you will play a key leadership role within HEIW's Medical Directorate, working closely with the Executive Medical Director and senior colleagues to deliver strategic priorities. You will:
Provide strategic oversight and leadership across medical education, training, and workforce development
Deputise for the Executive Medical Director in national forums and internal governance
Lead on quality and safetyacross all functions in theMedical Directorate,includingembedding HEIW's Quality Framework
Act as Deputy Responsible Officer for postgraduate doctors in training, supporting revalidation and professional standards
Collaborate with Welsh Government, NHS Wales, regulators, and education providers to shape national policy
Contribute to corporate planning, including the Education and Training Plan and Integrated Medium Term Plan (IMTP)
Support the development of multi-professional and interprofessional education and workforce transformation
Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) is the strategic workforce body for NHS Wales with statutory functions that include education and training, workforce planning, workforce development and transformation, leadership and succession planning, and careers.
