Deputy Service Manager – Wellbeing Specialist Services
We are looking for a dynamic leader to co‑lead and develop your team in partnership with the Service Manager, delivering recovery‑focused, high‑quality, safe and person‑centred care. The role will play a key part in shaping the future direction and development of the Swindon Wellbeing Services and championing innovation and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Co‑lead and develop the team with the Service Manager to deliver recovery‑focused, high‑quality, safe, and person‑centred care, achieving great outcomes for people using services.
- Inform the future direction and development of the Swindon Wellbeing Services, working closely with Directors and Commissioners internally and externally.
- Champion innovation and co‑lead the implementation of service enhancements, supporting the adoption of change, best practice and continuous improvement.
- Establish effective working relationships with key referrers, including Primary Care Networks and Secondary Care Services, facilitating meaningful two‑way dialogue with stakeholders.
- Understand and build upon local assets and resources to enable holistic and flexible place‑based support structures responsive to local needs.
- Ensure all staff are supported and developed through on‑the‑job coaching, individual and group supervision, appraisals, and promptly addressing learning and development needs.
- Produce regular outcome reports demonstrating service effectiveness and highlighting gaps in provision.
- Participate in the recruitment of new staff, including interview panels and induction of new Swindon staff.
- Oversee the recruitment of volunteers, including interview panels and induction.
- Provide on‑call support to staff across Swindon & Gloucestershire Mind services on a rota basis when required.
- Attend meetings related to the Sanford House building and contract matters.
- Conduct risk assessments for service areas, ensuring effective use of the Mental Health Triage Scale.
- Investigate incidents reported by staff or service users, following S&G Mind policies and procedures, and record outcomes.
- Explore and handle complaints made to the Swindon SBC wellbeing contract in accordance with relevant procedures and policies.
- Conduct investigations in line with relevant policies, such as complaints policy and HR investigations.
- Ensure all staff assess and manage risk appropriately in line with policy and the individual’s needs.
- Ensure lone‑working arrangements are in place and always followed.
- Act as Safeguarding Lead for adults and children within the Swindon Wellbeing Service.
- Act as Health & Safety Officer within the Swindon Wellbeing Service.
