Job summary

A local charitable preschool in Coventry is seeking an enthusiastic Deputy Manager to lead a small staff team and ensure outstanding care for children aged 2-4. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, managing a team, and knowledge of the Early years foundation stage. This part-time position requires flexibility to work 39 weeks a year with specific hours from Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing a small team.
  • First aid and safeguarding qualifications are mandatory.
  • Ability to follow EYFS statutory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide inclusive provision for children and families.
  • Manage the staff team in the absence of the Manager.
  • Complete risk assessments and daily maintenance.

Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Deputy Manager to work alongside our Manager and small staff team in an outstanding preschool with children aged 2-4 years old. Our ideal candidate would need previous experience in a Deputy management role or may consider a senior room leader looking for the next stage in their career. Experience of running a small team is required.

Eastern Green Preschool is a charity run non‑profit Committee run preschool it has been running for over 20 years offering outstanding childcare for the wider community and families. We have been Ofsted registered since 2004, and our staff team have maintained outstanding Ofsted since 2015.

You will be expected to continue to work with the ethos of the preschool and have a very flexible approach to your position, offering outstanding care and education to the children alongside managing our staff team, you will be employed by the committee of Eastern Green Preschool Playgroup who will continue to work alongside you together making some of the decisions for the future of the preschool, staff, and children.

Job Role
  • Providing an outstanding inclusive provision for children and their families to learn and develop, using your knowledge of the Early year’s foundation stage, Birth to 5 matters and Development matters.
  • Key worker for a group of children and their families.
  • DSL/Safeguarding Staff, children, and their families.
  • Follow the statutory EYFS requirements set out in the Early year’s statutory framework 2024.
  • Follow the SEND code of practice. SEND co ordinator supporting the Manager.
  • Manage the staff team in the absence of the Manager, providing a safe inclusive environment for staff to work.
  • Working alongside the Manager overseeing the day to day running of the Preschool.
  • Staff meetings overlooking the EYFS Key workers planning and implementation.
  • Completing risk assessments. Carrying out small daily maintenance repairs following on from a risk assessment found.
  • Input into all Policies and procedures, shared with staff and parents.
  • Attend and organise meetings and training when necessary.
Qualifications
  • Full and relevant NVQ Level 3 or above.
  • First aid.
  • DSL/Safeguarding.
  • Enhanced DBS.
  • Term Time.
Hours & Schedule

Hours are as follows: Monday – Friday 32.75 hours. 8am to 12.45 pm Monday & Thursday; 8am to 3:45 pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday.

You will be required to work 39 weeks of the year, 195 days of the year.
