Established in 1997 and based in the High Peak area of Derbyshire, Arnfield Care Ltd is an outstanding independent provider of high-quality residential care and on-site education for children and young people aged 11 to 17 years. Residents can present with a wide range of complex and challenging needs resulting from social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties in their formative years. About the Role
Job Purpose & Key Objectives
- Assist the Registered Manager in ensuring the Home meets the standards and expectations of its Statement of Purpose and exceeds National Minimum Standards for the quality of care provided.
- Help establish and maintain a competent, motivated, and confident staff team; providing leadership, managerial direction, guidance, and support to staff at junior levels.
- Liaise with Local Authorities, schools, health, and other professionals to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and achieve the best outcomes for young people in our care.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement high-quality standards of care, ensuring each young person has a regularly reviewed plan reflecting his or her care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic, and health needs.
- Work in partnership with parents, families, carers, and other professionals to advocate for, meet the needs of, safeguard, and promote the welfare of young people.
- Assist the Registered Manager in ensuring all new staff receive proper induction, regular supervision, a personal development plan, and clarity about expectations and objectives.
- Manage the day-to-day running of the home in the Home Manager's absence, ensuring effective allocation of resources and budgets, and appropriate risk management.
- Participate in an on-call rota system and work as part of the care team to cover various shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, sleep-ins, weekdays, weekends, and Bank Holidays.
- Model approaches to managing challenging behaviour and nurturing positive relationships with children and young people.
- Promote an organizational culture that values every team member's contribution, balancing confidentiality with transparency, and direction with delegation, innovation with adherence to procedures.

Requirements
As a minimum, you must:
- Hold an NVQ Level 4 in Health & Social Care, be working towards or have completed a Level 5 Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or recognized equivalents.
- Have at least three years of successful experience working with children, including one year in a senior role supervising staff, supporting, developing, and motivating a staff team within a children's residential setting.
- Hold a full UK or EU Driving Licence applicable for manual vehicles.
