About the Home / Organisation

A specialist Activity & Intervention Service delivering structured short‑term placements (typically 7‑12 weeks). Supports children with EBD who require stabilisation, routine, and intensive support before a long‑term placement. Highly structured, high‑energy environment focused on consistency, emotional regulation, and behavioural stabilisation. Young people arrive with limited access to personal items (e.g. phones) to promote safety, structure, and engagement.

Strong emphasis on outdoor activities, confidence building and positive routines, but the role remains care‑and‑behaviour focused (not an activity coordinator role). Operated by a well‑established provider offering excellent internal progression, strong leadership, and high‑quality training. Supportive management culture, transparent, open, and focused on staff development. Deputies here play a critical role in behaviour support, structure, and supporting transitions into new placements.

The Role

As Deputy Manager, you will support the Home Manager with all operational, behavioural, and staffing aspects across the service. Your work will directly impact a young person’s ability to stabilise, progress, and transition safely.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Manager with day‑to‑day operations, staffing, behaviour support, and safeguarding.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and supervision to the staff team.
  • Support decisions around referrals, matching, stabilisation plans, and risk management.
  • Lead shifts when required (role is largely office‑hours but some flexibility is needed).
  • Help young people develop routines, emotional regulation, and healthy boundaries.
  • Support participation in structured outdoor activities delivered by the wider team.
  • Monitor wellbeing, behaviours, triggers, and progress.
  • Support transitions out of the service into long‑term placements.
  • Ensure the home operates in line with care standards, legislation, and internal policies.
  • Produce high‑level recording, reporting, and behaviour documentation.
  • Support audits, reviews, and quality improvements.
Requirements
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (Children’s Pathway only)
  • Experience within children’s residential care (minimum 12‑18 months, ideally more)
  • Strong leadership qualities, resilience, consistency, and a calm approach
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑structure environment
  • Confidence managing challenging behaviours
  • Full UK Driving Licence + access to vehicle
  • Ability to work Monday‑Friday, 9‑5, with some flexibility
