Deputy Manager - Westhope Mews Residential (Horsham)

Location: Horsham, West Sussex
Salary: £26,250 per annum (FTE)
Service Type: Residential (supporting 5 adults with learning disabilities)
Reporting to: Service Manager

Service Overview

Westhope Mews is a residential service in Horsham town, supporting five adults with learning disabilities (LD) who have a range of physical, emotional, and daily living support needs. The service is close to public transport links; however, a driver is preferred to support flexibility with appointments, outings, and operational duties. Several individuals have mobility needs, so experience with hoisting, manual handling, and safe moving & handling procedures is essential. The Deputy Manager must also be confident providing personal care where required.

Role Purpose

The Deputy Manager supports the Service Manager in overseeing the day-to-day running of Westhope Mews. This role blends hands-on support with leadership responsibilities, ensuring high-quality care, a positive team culture, and safe, person-centred service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Service Manager with operational oversight of the service.
  • Lead shifts, offer guidance to staff, and promote best practice.
  • Deliver hands-on, person-centred support to individuals with learning disabilities.
  • Carry out personal care, moving & handling, and hoisting safely and confidently.
  • Assist with staff supervision, coaching, and fostering a positive team culture.
  • Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Build strong relationships with families, health professionals, and external agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with CQC standards and organisational policies.
  • Support with rota planning and maintaining safe staffing levels.
