Job summary

Caldershaw Primary School in Rochdale is seeking an outstanding Deputy Headteacher to join from January 2027. The post is 70% teaching with leadership duties across KS1/KS2, working with the Headteacher and SLT to sustain high standards.

The successful candidate will drive an ambitious, inclusive, knowledge-rich curriculum, lead curriculum subject leaders, and coach staff to ensure outstanding practice. A strong commitment to safeguarding is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience of positively impacting pupils’ progress and attainment.
• Leadership of curriculum subject leaders and development of an outstanding curriculum.
• Ability to coach others to raise practice across the school.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership and School Improvement: support vision, work with Headteacher/ Governors to secure improvement and use performance information to raise standards.
• Teaching, Learning and Curriculum: model high expectations, develop an ambitious inclusive knowledge-rich curriculum, champion evidence-informed practices.
• Inclusion, Behaviour and Personal Development: promote inclusive culture, support attendance/behaviour and family engagement.
• Leadership and Staff Development: foster collaboration, support coaching/mentoring, contribute to performance management.
• Safeguarding and Welfare: safeguard commitment, support safeguarding lead, promote a safe learning environment.
• Operational Leadership: day-to-day school leadership, deputise for Headteacher, implement policies and duties.
