Job summary

Brook Street Primary School invites applications for a Deputy Headteacher to join in January 2027, following the promotion of the current postholder. The role combines strategic leadership with teaching commitments in LKS2, and entails leading on behaviour, pupil premium, and professional development.

The successful candidate will work alongside the Headteacher to raise outcomes, contribute to Ofsted-related actions, and shape the school’s vision for the next five years.

Qualifications

• Be a strong, effective and engaging classroom practitioner with experience across the primary phase.
• Have a proven record of securing good outcomes for pupils within their own classroom and across the school.
• Have a deep understanding of teaching and learning and be able to develop these skills in others.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to whole-school development and strategic direction.
• Provide teaching commitments up to 0.5 Full-Time Equivalent, currently in LKS2 for 2 days per week.
• Support the Headteacher and champion the best interests of all children.
• Lead on behaviour, pupil premium and contribute to the development of teaching and learning.

Following the promotion of the current postholder to the headship at a local school, Brook Street Primary School is lookingto appoint a dedicated, passionate, knowledgeable and highly effective primarypractitioner and school leader to join the school in January 2027 as Deputy Headteacher.

This is an excellent opportunity for the rightcandidate to join our popular and well-regarded school and to take the nextstep in their career. This is a vital role within the school and the successfulcandidate will be able to make a significant contribution towards the strategicdirection of the school over the coming years. They will also be able to contributetowards the growth and development of colleagues, impact directly on outcomesfor all pupils in all year groups and develop theirown knowledge and skills topropel them into headship should they wish.

Specific responsibilities can be tailored to thestrengths of the successful candidate but the current post holder is a DDSL,writing and pupil premium lead, ECT and apprenticeship mentor, leads onbehaviour and contributes to the development of teaching and learning. Thisrole also has a teaching commitment of up to 0.5FTE that varies to meet theneeds of the school. Currently this involves teaching in LKS2 for 2 days perweek.

We are looking for somebody who can workalongside and support the Headteacher and champion the best interests of allchildren at our school. This is an exciting time to join Brook Street as welook forward to responding to the AFIs in our recent Ofsted inspection,continuing to develop our bespoke SEND provision, implementing the new NationalCurriculum and establishing a new vision for the school over the next fiveyears.
