Deputy Head of Nursing (Cardiology, Respiratory & Renal)

Would you like to join a Directorate and team who recently received 'outstanding' from the CQC? Are you an experienced senior nurse with a passion for cardio-respiratory care and a drive for outstanding patient care? We are seeking an exceptional and visible clinical leader to join our organisation as the Deputy Head of Nursing for Cardiology, Respiratory and Renal.

Frimley Health Foundation Trust has cross site cardiorespiratory services at both Wexham Park and Frimley Park hospital sites including cardiac catheter labs, cardiac investigation units, medical acute dependency units (respiratory) and a day case ambulatory renal unit at Frimley.

This is a pivotal leadership role for an enthusiastic, innovative, and motivated nursing professional with a strong leadership background supported by a proven track record in leading high-performing teams. As Deputy Head of Nursing, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across a portfolio of wards, ambulatory services, specialist teams, and acute pathways.

Main duties of the job

You will champion quality, patient safety, and workforce wellbeing, ensuring our services deliver consistently excellent, compassionate care. Working closely with the Divisional and Directorate triumvirate, and wider multidisciplinary teams, you will drive service improvement, deliver robust clinical governance structures, and ensure the Trust Quality Priorities are delivered across services.

As a senior leader participating in the Silver on call rota forms part of this role.

As part of the Directorate leadership team, to provide visibility. leadership and strategic direction and to have responsibility for a cohort of medical areas across Frimley Health. To ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, effective, harm free person-centred care consistent with the Trust values, organisational ambitions using available resources effectively and efficiently, and supporting achievement of the Trust's vision and values. The post holder will act as the deputy delegated lead for safety, quality and patient experience, responsible for development and application of systems, control processes and risk management arrangements.

Person Specification
  • Qualifications: Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration. Master's Degree / working to completion of master's degree or equivalent. Recognised leadership or management qualification or significant equivalent experience. Evidence of continuous professional development through CPD.
  • Qualifications: Non Medical Prescribing
Experience
  • Experience : Substantial experience at a senior level in the required specialty area, with a significant period at Band 8a. Significant operational & budget experience at Senior level. Proven Clinical experience relating to fields of responsibility and an autonomous practitioner/leader. Ability to clearly evidence continuous quality improvement. Robust patient safety and clinical governance knowledge and experience. Evidence of managing clinical services, service innovation and up to date knowledge of nursing policy and strategy.
  • Cardiology experience Embedded knowledge / and or experience of advanced clinical practice (ACP)
Skills
  • Skills: IT Skills Highly developed written communication skills.
