We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Deputy Head of Mortuary & APT to assist the Mortuary Manager in delivering safe, dignified, and efficient mortuary services within our NHS Trust. The role requires a passionate and enthusiastic training officer with experience in mortuary operations.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the mortuary, ensuring a smooth, respectful service for the deceased and their families.
  • Lead and manage a team of skilled mortuary staff, providing compassionate leadership, training, and support to maintain high standards of care.
  • Liaise closely with bereavement and medical examiner services, coroners, funeral directors, and external agencies to ensure efficient processes and sensitive communication.
  • Manage post‑mortem arrangements, maintain accurate records, and keep the facility, equipment, and processes up to date.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, professional, and Trust requirements, including robust health, safety, and infection control practices.
  • Contribute to continuous service improvement and support quality initiatives within the Trust.
