A leading healthcare provider in Liverpool seeks a Deputy Head of Healthcare to lead a team in managing healthcare for 1000 men at HMP Liverpool. The role demands an experienced clinical leader to monitor performance and uphold high standards of care. Applicants should have a background in healthcare management and a passion for service improvement. This position offers an opportunity to influence a unique Prison Healthcare Service and contribute to the health of a vulnerable population.
We have an exicting opportunity for an experience clinical leader to join a multidisciplinary team at HMP Liverpool that oversees the care for 1000 men. The role is fast paced and diverse, whilst incredibly rewarding and interesting. You would be joining a unique Prison Healthcare Service and cover across the different pathways including Primary Care, Urgent Care, Inpatients, Substance Misuse & Early Days in Custody. You would be supported by a large team of healthcare professionals to fulfill your duties, a team that in August 2025 CQC described as "innovative, well led and highly effective."
You will be accountable for the delivery of the contract including responsibility for monitoring performance and delivery against key performance indicators.
This position is a perfect match for someone who is passionate about upholding and advancing exceptional standards of care and service and possesses the capability to motivate and elevate the team through robust clinical supervision and continuous professional growth.
You will support the Head of Services by oversight of day to day operations across the Healthcare Department and support with strategic development and service improvement.
You do not need prison experience but must have experience in a senior leadership role and have a good understanding of clinical governance.
