A prestigious independent school in the City of Westminster is seeking a Deputy Head with significant leadership experience. The role involves joining a motivated Senior Leadership Team and contributing to the school's ethos. The successful candidate will enjoy competitive salary and benefits, including health insurance and fee remission for children. Applications are invited for the post starting April 2026.
This is rare opportunity to become part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) at one of the country's most socially diverse, high‑achieving and joyful independent schools. We see it as of paramount importance to appoint the right person to join a highly motivated, collegial and happy SLT, which currently comprises the following: The Headmaster, four Deputy Heads, three Assistant Heads, the Bursar, and the Deputy Bursar. Other senior colleagues, for example the Development Director and Head of Admissions and Marketing regularly join SLT meetings to discuss relevant agenda items. Additionally, the appointed candidate will be a member of the leadership team for the Hampton School Trust, which includes Hampton and Hampton Pre‑Prep & Prep. This group meets regularly and involves those mentioned above as well as the Hampton Prep Head. The successful Deputy Head candidate will have prior experience at SLT level and a demonstrable record of excellence in school leadership, along with high‑level administrative and communication skills. The appointee must subscribe fully to Hampton's distinctive ethos and values, and understand how academic study, pastoral care and co‑curricular activities contribute equally. Applications are invited for the post of Deputy Head from April 2026 or earlier if possible. Hampton has an exceptional track record of preparing senior colleagues for headship and it is anticipated that the appointed candidate will themselves aspire to lead a HMC or GSA school in due course. Hampton teaching staff enjoy a range of attractive benefits, including generous holiday provision and salaries enhanced above maintained sector scales. Private health insurance cover is provided, along with free lunches in a dedicated staff dining room, and excellent CPD provision. Subsidised single accommodation within School‑owned properties in the local area may also be available for new colleagues. Those with children who meet the Hampton Pre‑Prep & Prep School and/or senior school entrance requirements are eligible for substantial fee remission. A reciprocal fee remission arrangement is offered to staff whose daughters meet the entry criteria for our neighbouring girls' school, Lady Eleanor Holles.
