Job summary

Associated British Ports seeks an experienced Deputy Harbour Master & Senior Pilotage Operations Manager to lead pilotage services and marine operations across the Humber Estuary. Reporting to the Harbour Master, you will oversee safety, regulatory duties and risk management while guiding a team of pilots and marine specialists.

The role demands leadership, strong stakeholder engagement, incident response expertise and a deep understanding of port operations in a busy estuary environment.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in pilotage operations management and port management.
• Detailed knowledge of the Port Marine Safety Code and associated legislation.
• Knowledge of navigational risk management and marine safety management.
• Proven leadership and people management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the safe and efficient delivery of pilotage services across the Humber Estuary.
• Deputise for the Harbour Master and perform Statutory Harbour Authority functions as required.
• Ensure compliance with safety codes, legislation and environmental requirements.
• Maintain and improve marine safety management systems.
• Develop and mentor a skilled team of pilots and marine personnel.
• Act as Deputy Port Facility Security Officer for Humber SHA.
• Collaborate with Vessel Traffic Services, terminal operators and ship operators.
• Provide input on planning and delivery of marine projects.
• Lead during marine emergencies and investigations.
