The Role…

Already a powerhouse in the Hearst portfolio, Country Living is entering its fifth decade with a bold brand plan. Under a new leadership team and with a refreshed editorial vision, it is reaching new and diverse audiences across its range of print, digital and live event platforms. This role plays a pivotal part in the brand evolution.

As the Deputy Editor you will edit and shape the cross‑platform stories that bring the Country Living universe to life. Reporting to the Editor, you will be an experienced writer and editor with a passion for original ideas and a contacts book of top contributors and publicists. An entrepreneurial spirit and curiosity for how media brands thrive into the future – and how you can contribute to that – is a must.

Main Duties…
  • Editing and signing off all print copy before it goes to the Editor.
  • Attending the daily digital planning meeting and contributing ideas and articles.
  • Responsibility for the talent profiles across all CL platforms.
  • Responsibility for the human interest stories across all CL platforms.
  • Leading the initiative to build the editorial offers and benefits for Country Living Members.
What We Are Looking For…
  • You’re a brilliant editor with a passion for beautifully crafted copy.
  • You’re full of original and on‑brand ideas.
  • You understand how to write a brief and produce a content package that works across multiple platforms.
  • You have a brilliant contacts book, filled with writers, publicists and other talent relevant to the CL universe.
  • You’re curious, tenacious and plugged into the wider culture.
  • You have at least five years’ experience at editor‑level on a consumer publication.
