We are looking for a Deputy Editor to help shape the future of Cell Reports. You will support the Editor-in-Chief, manage a team of editors, and contribute to journal strategy. You will also engage with the scientific community, oversee peer review, and help develop editorial content. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in any area related to the topics that Cell Reports covers. Candidates should have extensive editorial experience, strong communication skills, with an interest in managing a team, engaging with the scientific community, and the ability to work well in diverse team settings.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Editor-in-Chief and managing scientific editors
  • Contributing to journal strategy and development
  • Overseeing peer review and editorial decisions
  • Commissioning and editing Reviews and Perspectives
  • Building relationships with researchers and institutions
  • Representing the journal at conferences and events
  • Improving editorial workflows and author experience
Qualifications
  • Have a Ph.D. in a relevant field of biology.
  • Have at least 5 years of editorial experience.
  • Experience managing or mentoring others is a plus.
  • Display exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
  • Able to evaluate a wide range of scientific topics.
  • Have an interest in science communication and publishing trends.
