Job description

East London Foundation Trust (ELFT) has long been recognised as a centre of excellence for providing high quality, accessible and responsive mental and adult community health care services within East London and Bedfordshire and Luton. The Trust is a key partner within the Central East Integrated Care System (ICS) and has an important role in the integration of health and social care services within the emerging neighbourhood health approach. Our staff, working under the leadership and direction of the Directorate Management Team are constantly striving for the best for our population., The Deputy Director for Bedfordshire Community Health Services provides leadership and operational management for the community health services in Bedfordshire in order to meet regulatory, business plans and contractual obligations, managing risks effectively and ensuring effective relationships are maintained with all our partners and external agencies. The post holder holds operational responsibility for district nursing, palliative care, specialist nursing and community therapy services whilst working alongside the Deputy Director for unplanned care (Bedfordshire and Luton wide role). This senior role will foster a culture that facilitates high staff morale and excellent service user experience. The post holder will support, contribute and where appropriate lead the development of neighbourhood based models of care that support the delivery of shifting care closer to home, improved population health and more proactive and preventative care. They will work in collaboration with key stakeholders and take a lead role at place level in the development and maintenance of partnership arrangements, supporting the implementation of the Trusts Community Health strategy. The successful candidate will be an experienced health or social care professional in an operational clinical or non-clinical capacity, have the knowledge and experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams, delivery of services and leading transformation to reflect local and national strategy., Please see attached Job Description and Person Specification for details of the duties and responsibilities of the role.

  • Qualified to degree level
  • Post graduate management qualification or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development, Substantial relevant management experience including experience of shaping and delivering significant change in health services.
  • Experience of developing effective partnership working with service users and carers.
  • Proven effective partnership working with statutory, voluntary and community sectors, Detailed knowledge of legislation and the statutory responsibilities of health and social care agencies.
  • Ability to lead and manage change, securing ownership and commitment to shared vision and objectives across disciplines and organisations.
  • Ability to manage, motivate and engage staff, service users and carers from a variety of professional and organisational backgrounds, identifying, securing commitment to, and implementing new ways of working across traditional boundaries.

  • Ability to model and promote equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice and service delivery.
  • Ability to deal effectively and constructively with issues of poor performance, conduct etc.
