Job summary

A forward-thinking educational institution in Greater London is seeking a Deputy Designated Safeguarding & Wellbeing Lead to enhance safeguarding measures. The ideal candidate will support the safeguarding lead and work with staff, families, and external agencies to ensure student wellbeing. Responsibilities

  • Support the DSL in managing all aspects of safeguarding.
  • Act as a contact point for safeguarding concerns.
  • Record and escalate safeguarding issues as needed.
  • Collaborate with external agencies for effective practice.
  • Maintain accurate safeguarding records and follow-up.

36 hours per week, Term Time Only (40 weeks), plus INSET Days Monday to Thursday: 8.15am - 4.15pm & Friday: 8.15am - 4.00pm (Includes 45minute unpaid break). We are excited to welcome a committed and compassionate professional to take on the vital role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding & Wellbeing Lead (DDSL). This is a highly rewarding position at the heart of our safeguarding provision, working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), senior leaders, and wider staff team to ensure the wellbeing and protection of all students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the DSL in leading and managing all aspects of safeguarding across the school
  • Act as a point of contact for staff, students, and families regarding safeguarding concerns
  • Respond to, record, and escalating safeguarding issues in line with statutory guidance and school policy
  • Work with external agencies, including social care and health professionals, to ensure effective safeguarding practice
  • Help maintain accurate, confidential safeguarding records and ensure timely follow-up
Qualifications & Experience
  • Has a strong commitment to safeguarding and child protection
  • Communicates clearly, confidently, and sensitively with children, families, and professionals
  • Can remain calm, professional, and solution-focused in challenging situations
  • Works effectively as part of a team and builds positive relationships across the school
  • Is willing to undertake relevant training, including advanced safeguarding and First Aid
  • Approaches every situation with empathy, integrity, and sound judgement
