A leading mental health care provider in Torquay is seeking a Band 8A manager to oversee Mental Health ASC services. You will be responsible for strategic leadership, ensuring integrated care with health partners, and managing a social care workforce. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mental health management and be a qualified AMHP, offering competitive salary and benefits in a supportive environment.
To provide operational and strategic oversight to all the Mental Health ASC services and to ensure effective and efficient performance across Adult Social Care Teams within this service.
The role is a Band 8A
Note: If you are a qualified AMHP the salary attracts a enhancement of 11.8% for commitment to the AMHP Rota, there is an expectation of a minimum commitment of 2 duties per month for WTE (Pro Rata)
To be accountable to the Baywide Community Services Manager for mental health services for providing a person‑centred health service, in partnership with our local health partners, other statutory services, voluntary and independent sector organisations.
To provide operational and strategic leadership across Mental Health Adult Social Care Teams and Emergency Mental Health Services. The successful applicant will need to ensure that there is a continued commitment to integrated working with health colleagues and also partner agencies.
To have responsibility for the oversight of the social care workforce within the Mental Health ASC Services and to ensure that all staff are appropriately line managed, supervised and supported in accordance with the relevant policies of Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.
There are two Mental Health Social Work teams, one Multi‑Disciplinary Specialist Care Home Team that sits within Mental Health Social Care provision, plus the acute mental health services, of Day Time AMHP Duty Service and the Emergency Duty Service (EDS) which is an out of hours service. The Mental Health services provide specialist mental health social care interventions and emergency mental health pathways, we work in an integrated way with mental health colleagues in Devon Partnership Trust (DPT) to ensure the delivery of high‑quality care services for people living in Torbay.
Providing monthly performance reports and information to the Community Service Manager.
Working with care providers, services and the community voluntary sector to ensure there are high quality social care support services for people living in Torbay.
To ensure that policies and procedures in regard to safeguarding adults are understood, adopted and applied by all staff. This will include directing and leading whole home investigations, Provider of Concern Processes and supporting Safeguarding Serious Case Reviews as necessary.
To ensure all complaints are investigated appropriately via the Quality Assurance Social Work Lead, in accordance with the requirements of each agency, and to utilise learning to continuously improve practice. This will include working in conjunction with the Feedback and Engagement Team to achieve a local resolution (where possible) of informal complaints, to manage formal complaints (in accordance with the complaints polices of Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust and Torbay Council).
To learn and understand research in order to inform opportunities for development and improvement to ensure integrated services provide, meet or exceed national standards for performance and innovation where possible.
