Job summary

The Oast Care Home in Maidstone (Charing Healthcare) is seeking a Deputy Manager to lead on-floor care and staff coordination. The role requires proactive supervision of staff, reporting to the manager on resident needs, and ensuring routines are followed. Flexibility to cover shifts and weekends is expected.

Candidates should have dementia-care experience, staff management skills, and hold Level 3 in HSC with a plan to progress to Level 5 Diploma. Computer literacy is essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience in a care home for people with dementia
• Experience in managing staff
• Level 3 in HSC and willingness to work towards Level 5 Diploma
• Must be computer literate

Responsibilities

• The deputy will work on the floor as part of the hands-on team to monitor and report back to the manager on staff performance and residents' needs.
• Will be rota'd on some shifts to ensure goals are met with some hours as supernumerary to support the Manager.
• Maintain awareness of all routines of the home and adhere to these where appropriate.

Location: The Oast Care Home, 2 Plains Avenue, Maidstone, Kent, ME15 7AT

Contracted hours: 44Hour Contract- These hours are made up of Senior shifts 2 x 11 hr and then 3 office shifts to make up the other 22 hours.

Will Include working Alternative Weekends as a Senior.

Responsibilities of the Deputy Manager Role:

• The deputy will work on the floor as part of the "hands on team" as required, to monitor and report back to the manager information on staff performance and residents' needs. She/he will be rota'd on some shifts to ensure above aim is met with some hours as supernumerary to support the Manager.
• To maintain an awareness of all routines of the home and adhere to these where appropriate.

Requirements of the Deputy Manager Role:

• Must be prepared to pick up shifts where required for the needs of the home
• Must have at least 2 years' experience in a Care Home for people with Dementia
• Must have experience of Managing Staff
• Level 3 in H&SC and be prepared to work towards Level 5 Diploma
• Must be computer literate
