Greenergy is seeking an experienced Depot Operations Manager for our Immingham depot. You will lead drivers and depot teams, ensure safety compliance and efficient service delivery, and manage budgets and cost control.

Strong leadership, planning and communication are essential, with a focus on continuous improvement and safety-first culture within a busy 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

• Extensive depot/transport/logistics ops management experience.
• Strong knowledge of SHEQ regulations and compliance.
• Experience managing drivers in safety-critical or unionised environments.
• Excellent planning and financial acumen.
• ADR, CPC certification advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Safety & Compliance: ensure depot operates under policies and regulatory requirements; promote safety culture and drive SHEQ improvements; conduct audits and investigations.
• Operational Leadership: lead and develop depot team; manage scheduling, resources and costs; ensure procedures are followed and drive efficiency.
• Customer Service: deliver timely, safe fuel deliveries and resolve service issues with teams.
• Financial & Cost Control: manage budget, costs and KPIs; seek cost-effective service solutions.
• People Management: provide leadership to depot and driver teams; recruit, train, appraise and foster a high-performing culture.

Greenergy is a major UK fuel supplier and a leading European manufacturer of waste-based renewables. To deliver fuel to our customers, we have a 24/7 in-house haulage operation made up of over 650 drivers and a fleet of over 250 tankers. Greenergy Flexigrid operates out of over 20 depots nationwide, making over 182,000 deliveries to 3,100 customers each year.

Join us as Depot Operations Manager and take the lead in delivering safe, efficient and customer-focused depot operations. You'll oversee all aspects of depot performance, from resource planning and team leadership through to compliance, budgeting and service delivery, ensuring customers receive a consistently high standard of service.

We're looking for an experienced operations professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing people leadership with operational and commercial responsibilities. With a strong focus on continuous improvement, you'll identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce costs and support the ongoing success of the depot and wider business.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance:

• Ensure the depot operates in full compliance with company policies, SHEQ standards, and all relevant legal/regulatory requirements
• Promote a strong safety culture and drive continuous improvement in SHEQ performance
• Conduct regular audits, inspections, and incident investigations.

Operational Leadership

• Lead, manage, and develop the depot team, including drivers, to achieve operational excellence
• Oversee day-to-day depot activities, ensuring effective scheduling, resource planning, and cost management
• Ensure all Flexigrid operational procedures are implemented and maintained
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs and optimise performance.

Customer Service

• Deliver on the customer promise by ensuring timely, accurate, and safe fuel deliveries
• Collaborate with commercial and logistics teams to resolve service issues and improve customer satisfaction.

Financial & Cost Control

• Manage depot budget, cost controls, and performance KPIs
• Ensure the most cost-effective solutions are utilised to maintain service quality
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs without compromising safety or service.

People Management

• Provide strong leadership and guidance to the depot operations team and driver group
• Manage recruitment, training, development, and performance management of team members
• Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Proven experience in depot, transport, or logistics operations management (fuels, hazardous goods, or similar industry desirable)
• Strong understanding of SHEQ regulations and compliance requirements
• Demonstrated ability to manage teams, including drivers, in a unionised or safety-critical environment
• Excellent investigation skills
• Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong financial and commercial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and drive cost efficiencies
• Effective communicator with strong leadership and interpersonal skills
• ADR, CPC certification (advantageous).
