Job summary

Lanes Group is recruiting for a depot role in Camberley, UK. This permanent, full-time position offers a 50-hour week with a salary of £38,585 per year. You will maintain depot standards, manage stock and ensure HSE compliance while coordinating deliveries and vehicle movements for Thames Water contracts.

Applicants should hold a full UK driving licence; IOSH/First Aid are a plus. Prior experience in drainage/utility warehousing is beneficial; Class 2 HGV is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain depot standards, ensuring cleanliness, organisation and safety compliance.
  • Maintain stock records: receiving, storing and distributing materials with accurate movements.
  • Ensure health, safety and regulatory compliance; conduct safety checks on tools, equipment and vehicles.
  • Escalate safety concerns promptly and prepare for internal/external audits.
  • Manage loading/unloading, vehicle movement, and urgent equipment delivery to sites.
  • Lead operational improvements to reduce downtime and improve service delivery.
  • Keep accurate records of stock, deliveries, PPE usage and discrepancies; generate related reports.

Purpose of the role:

Due to continued growth and development, we are now looking for customer focused people to join us in our Utility Division, working on our Thames Water contract service to deliver real and effective solutions to depot organisation:

Location: Camberley STW, Riverside Way, Surrey

Job Type: permanent, full-time

Hours: Monday - Friday 50 Hours per week

Salary: £38,585 per annum

Key Responsibilities:

Depot Standards and Housekeeping

  • Oversee and maintain high depot standards, ensuring the depot remains tidy, organised, and clean at all times taking responsibility for the physical appearance of the depot, ensuring that stock is neatly
    stored and compliant with Health and Safety standards.

Stock and Inventory Management

  • Maintain accurate records of stock, including receiving, storing, and distributing materials and equipment ensuring stock movements are recorded accurately, including deliveries, returns, and discrepancies.

Health, Safety, and Compliance

  • Ensure depot operations comply with all relevant health and safety regulations, including the proper storage and handling of materials and PPE.
  • Conduct regular safety checks on tools, equipment, and vehicles to ensure they meet safety standards.
  • Escalate any health and safety concerns promptly to the appropriate channels to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular internal audits and prepare for external audits to ensure compliance with company policies and external regulations.
  • Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibilities towards them.

Logistics and Deliveries Management.

  • Oversee the loading and unloading of stock, ensuring materials are handled safely and efficient­ly.
  • Assist with vehicle movement within the depot when required/ Deliver Urgent equipment to site in response to pollution events/client requests and operational needs

Operational Efficiency and Continuous Improvement

  • Implement changes to improve workflow, reduce downtime, and enhance service delivery.
  • Lead initiatives to streamline depot operations and improve overall efficiency, ensuring that best practices are followed.

Administrative and Reporting Duties

  • Accountability for accurate and up-to-date records of stock levels, deliveries, PPE usage, and any discrepancies.
  • Generate reports on stock movements, order fulfilment, depot performance, and any health and safety compliance issues.
Key Requirements
Skills & Experience:
  • A full UK drivers’ licence
Desirable:
