Job summary

North Cheshire and Mersey NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Dental Officer to deliver a broad range of primary dental care for children, adults with disabilities, and other priority groups across community and hospital settings.

You will provide domiciliary care for housebound patients, treat in clinics with local anaesthesia or inhalation sedation, and support patients who cannot have treatment in the clinic under general anaesthesia. Travel across Cheshire and Merseyside is expected.

Qualifications

• Ability to provide a wide range of dental care to a high standard.
• Good organisational skills and ability to manage workload.
• Knowledge of FP17 forms, treatment banding and patient charges.

Responsibilities

• Provide a wide range of primary dental care for patients including children, people with disabilities, older people and those referred by GPs.
• Adhere to department standards/protocols without direct supervision and comment on policies as needed.
• Keep full and contemporaneous dental records of treatment carried out.
• Provide dental care in the domiciliary setting for housebound patients.
• Provide care in hospital under general anaesthesia when required.
• Travel to support services across Cheshire and Merseyside.

An exciting opportunity to join the Community DentalService in Cheshire and Merseyside.

The successful candidate will be providingprimary care dentistry to children and adults with additional needs both on referralfrom their General Dental Practitioner and on a continuing carebasis.

Main duties of the job

Provide a widerange of primary dental care for patients including children, people withdisabilities,

older people andthose referred by general dental practitioners. Provide dental care inthe

domiciliarysetting for patients who are housebound. Provide treatment in the clinic withlocal

anaesthetic orinhalation sedation.

As requiredprovide dental care in hospital under general anaesthesia for patients whocannot have

their treatmentprovided in the clinic.

Travel is anessential part of the role and the successful applicant could be asked tosupport

services in anyof the services Cheshire and Merseyside locations.

Job responsibilities

Job Purpose: To provide dental care for priority groupsin a variety of settings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide a wide range of primary dental carefor patients including children, people with disabilities, older people andthose referred by general dental practitioners.

Adhere to department and professionalstandards/protocols without direct supervision.Comment on department policies and propose changes to departmentalworking practices or procedures as necessary.

Keep full and contemporaneous dental recordsof treatment carried out.

Access communication from the Trust and fromthe department via e-mail.

Complete FP17 forms for patients anddetermine which band the course of treatment falls into.

Organise the collection of patient chargesand report any bad debtors to the Head of Dental services.

Provide dental care in the domiciliarysetting for patients who are housebound.

Provide dental care in hospital under generalanaesthesia for patients who cannot have their treatment provided in theclinic.

Support the Clinical Director to maintainhealth and safety and security within the department, reporting risks andtaking appropriate action as required.

Participate in audit and peer review asrequired.

The post holder will be required toundertake any other duties and responsibilities within the framework of thepost.
