Qualifications

• No academic qualifications required for entry into apprenticeship
• On-the-job training with dental team
• Develop clinical and reception skills during the apprenticeship

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist/therapist/hygienist during clinical procedures
• Follow Health and Safety and cross-infection policies
• Assist with fillings, root canals, crowns, dentures and extractions
• Carry out patient assessments and minor oral surgery when needed
• Assist hygienist with scale, polish and oral health promotion
• Record notes, charting, medical history and radiographs
• Reception duties: phones, appointments, patient greeting, system entries
• Waste disposal for clinical, sharps and domestic waste
• Assist with X-ray preparation and image handling
