The Universityof Suffolk Dental CIC in Ipswich is looking for experienced dental nurses tojoin our team on a full or part-time basis.

Supporting thewider dental team, this key role will provide dental nurse support and workalongside dentists, dental therapists/hygienists, receptionists in the care ofservice users.

Full-timeand part-time positions available.

Main duties of the job
  • Reassuring service users and explaining dental procedures especially when there may be communication difficulties.
  • Monitoring,supporting service users through relevant behavioural techniques.
  • Identifyingany complications and taking the necessary actions consistent with agreed localand national protocols.
  • Recording treatment, for example, baseline charting, clinicaltreatmentsand periodontal charting from the dental operators instructions.
  • Assistingthe operator in organising thedaysactivities.
  • Monitoring day lists and appointment diary andupdatingas necessary.
  • Preparing the surgery for use at the beginning of the session and clearing up at the end of the session.
  • Arranging for thetimelysupply of materials and laboratory work.
  • Preparing filling and impression materials, instruments, equipment,dressingsand syringes as requested by thedental operator.
  • Maintaining hand pieces,aspiratorsand other equipment.

  • Experienceworking as a dental nurse in a variety of settings

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
  • Good standard of education to GCSE level or equivalent.
  • National Diploma in Dental Nursing Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Registered with the General Dental Council
  • Certificate for the examination in the care of the service user by the awarding body, the National Examination Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN).
  • Certificate in Dental Radiography.
  • NEBDN Oral Health Certificate in Oral Health Education, OR Certificate in Extended Duties Dental Nursing
  • Willing to work towards at least one of the above qualifications.
