Job summary

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is seeking a motivated and caring team member to join the Oral Health Improvement team. The role involves delegated tasks within Oral Health Promotion activities and supporting the Designed to Smile programme across Gwent sites.

You will assist OHP/OHIP staff, help develop departmental resources, travel between sites as required, and contribute to a safe, well-supported NHS service. Welsh language skills are desirable and training opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

  • English/Mathematics GCSE or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience of team working and working with people.

Responsibilities

Job description

To work as a member of the Oral Health Improvement team conducting delegated tasks related to Oral Health Promotion activities and adopting a community development approach. To assist the OHP/OHIP staff in the development of departmental resources to support the delivery of the Designed to Smile Oral Health Promotion programme. This position involves Regulated Activity with children and/or adults as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) and the following checks will be undertaken following any conditional offer -Enhanced check with barred list information including an adults and children's barred list check., This role is currently under review within the Health Board and will result in the issuing of a revised band 3 job description. If appointed, your manager will ensure you are kept informed and support you through any changes, including discussing relevant training requirements., Are you a motivated enthusiastic and caring person with good communication skills and the ability to organise, and required to work as part of a team in Gwent. To support and assist the Oral Health Promoter/ Oral Health Improvement Practitioner (OHP/OHIP) implementing and monitoring the Oral Health Promotion programmes under the Designed to Smile umbrella under their supervision. You must be able to travel between sites in a timely manner to meet the requirements of the post., The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply. You should provide evidence of equivalent experience and evidence work-based competency demonstrating theoretical knowledge and the ability to undertake clinical care duties relevant for the role which is gained through experience and work-based training/short courses.
