West-Norfolk is seeking a Democratic Services Officer in King’s Lynn. The role covers coordinating, preparing, and clerking a variety of council meetings, with hybrid working up to two days per week. As a Democratic Services Officer, you will play an important part in supporting the Council’s democratic arrangements. You will help meetings run smoothly, support transparent decision-making and provide Members and officers with the governance and procedural support they need in a varied and interesting role.
You will coordinate, prepare and clerk a range of Council meetings, including Committees, Panels, Task Groups, Member meetings and internal meetings. This will include collating reports, preparing and circulating agendas, advising on procedure, drafting minutes, monitoring actions and helping to maintain effective and transparent decision records.
You may already have experience in democratic services, committee administration, governance or local government, but we would also welcome applicants with strong administrative, meeting support, report coordination or public service experience. You will need excellent attention to detail, political awareness and the confidence to work with elected Members and senior officers. Some meetings take place in the evening and hybrid working is available for up to two days per week, subject to meeting commitments and office cover.
