Overview

Salary: £49,282- £51,356 per annum (SCP 38-40, PO4 Grade) | Contract: Permanent, Full Time | Hours: 37 hours per week | Reference: JOB/25/03096

South Derbyshire District Council are seeking an experienced and motivated professional to lead our Democratic and Electoral Services.

You’ll manage a dedicated team to deliver high-quality, legally compliant elections and democratic support, ensuring the smooth running of Council meetings and the integrity of our decision-making processes.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and manage the Council’s Democratic Services Unit and Committee Management System.
  • Oversee all aspects of elections and electoral registration, ensuring compliance with legislation.
  • Promote democratic engagement and voter participation.
  • Provide expert advice to Members, senior officers, candidates, and the public.
  • Support the Monitoring Officer and Deputy Monitoring Officer.
About You
  • Proven experience in elections, electoral registration, or democratic services.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of electoral and democratic legislation.
  • A commitment to high standards, continuous improvement, and public service.
