Job summary

Guild Care in Worthing is seeking a Team Leader to oversee a care household, guiding and supporting our care teams to deliver person-centred care in a dementia-friendly environment. You’ll provide direction, supervise staff, and ensure shifts run smoothly with a calm, compassionate presence on duty.

This role requires at least 3 years’ experience in care, leadership skills, and strong communication. You’ll lead assessments, manage medication processes, document care plans, and mentor new staff,

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in care or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
  • Experience supervising or guiding others in a care environment.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to read, write, and complete basic calculations.
  • Up-to-date mandatory training.
  • Ability to maintain medication competency.
  • Satisfactory DBS check.
  • Level 3+ Health & Social Care qualification.
  • Health & Safety or First Aid training.
  • Experience leading a team in dementia care.
  • Understanding of person-centred dementia approaches and behaviour support.
  • Experience using digital care planning systems.
  • Awareness of budget considerations in a care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the shift and ensuring the smooth running of the household or suite.
  • Allocating tasks and ensuring effective use of time for engagement, tidying, and resident support.
  • Maintaining a calm, safe, clean, dementia‑friendly environment.
  • Completing monthly assessments and updating care plans as needs change.
  • Ensuring accurate medication administration, ordering, and documentation.
  • Monitoring residents’ wellbeing and escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Providing day‑to‑day supervision, coaching, and guidance to the care team.
  • Supporting new staff during induction and contributing to ongoing learning.
  • Communicating clearly with staff, managers, families, and external professionals.
  • Using advanced dementia care techniques such as validation, de‑escalation, and sensory approaches.
  • Supporting residents experiencing distress or behavioural changes.
  • Ensuring meaningful activities and engagement opportunities are encouraged.
  • Overseeing mealtime experience and ensuring dietary needs are met.
  • Maintaining accurate digital care records and ensuring confidentiality.
  • Leading compassionate, dignified end‑of‑life care
  • Acting as a positive role model and upholding BELIEF values.
