Job description

Security Clearance: Must currently hold the highest level of UK Government security clearance

We're partnering with a leading organisation operating across defence, national security and technology to appoint an experienced Delivery Manager to support the successful delivery of complex, mission-critical programmes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a delivery professional to take ownership of high-impact projects, working closely with technical teams, senior stakeholders and customers to drive delivery performance, manage commercial outcomes and support strategic objectives.

We're particularly interested in candidates with experience delivering projects within complex technical environments, ideally across defence, national security, central government or other highly regulated sectors.

The Opportunity

As a Delivery Manager, you'll provide leadership across medium-scale, high-impact projects, ensuring successful delivery against agreed timelines, budgets and quality standards.

This is a hands-on leadership role, combining project delivery, financial management, stakeholder engagement and team development. You'll work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, proactively managing risks, improving delivery processes and identifying opportunities to strengthen customer relationships.

You'll have the autonomy to influence delivery strategy, drive continuous improvement and contribute to the successful execution of programmes supporting critical national security and defence capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll play a key role in driving successful project delivery by:

  • Leading medium-scale projects, ensuring delivery against agreed milestones, budgets and quality standards.
  • Managing project financial performance, including forecasting, budgeting, profitability and commercial governance.
  • Building, coaching and supporting high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Identifying and managing project risks, issues, dependencies and change control processes.
  • Developing strong relationships with customers, senior stakeholders and internal delivery teams.
  • Applying Agile, Lean and project management best practices to optimise delivery performance.
  • Driving continuous improvement and identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and customer outcomes.
  • Supporting commercial activities and identifying opportunities for future business growth.
About You

You’ll be an experienced delivery professional with strong project management capabilities, commercial awareness and the ability to lead teams and influence stakeholders within complex environments.

You’ll also have:

  • Proven experience delivering projects or programmes within complex customer environments.
  • Strong project management expertise, including planning, forecasting, risk management, resource allocation and governance.
  • Experience managing project finances, commercial performance and profitability.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across customers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience working with Agile, Lean, Scrum or similar delivery methodologies.
  • Strong leadership, communication and presentation skills.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Experience delivering programmes within defence, national security, central government, mission systems or highly regulated environments.
  • Understanding of Fixed Price and Time & Materials commercial contracts.
  • Knowledge of audit processes, commercial lifecycles and project mobilisation.
  • Experience using Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Office, SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.
  • Relevant project management qualifications, such as PRINCE2, AgilePM, MSP, PMP or equivalent.

Due to the nature of the programmes involved, applicants must be UK citizens and currently hold the highest level of UK Government security clearance.

Why Apply?

This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of meaningful, high-impact programmes within a specialist technical environment, working alongside experienced professionals to deliver solutions supporting critical national missions.

You’ll benefit from a collaborative working environment, opportunities to influence delivery strategy and access to professional development programmes designed to support your long-term career progression.

In return, you’ll benefit from:

  • Competitive salary of £58,000 - £86,000 per annum.
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
  • Compressed fortnight working pattern, including every other Friday off.
  • Private healthcare and dental cover.
  • Life assurance and a competitive pension scheme.
  • Flexible benefits, including critical illness cover and a health cash plan.
  • Holiday buy and sell scheme.
  • Annual performance incentive programme.
  • Professional development, mentoring and leadership training.
  • Opportunities for career progression within complex, mission-critical programmes.
