Job description
Overview

Join us as a Delivery and Stock organisation person and you'll become part of our team that works together to provide the best customer experience. If you've visited one of our restaurants before, you've probably got some idea of the high expectations within the restaurant. But you might not realise the variety and scope of the role. Specific responsibilities may include the acceptance of deliveries ensuring rotation, cleanliness of stock areas and organisation of our great food products in our restaurants.

You’ll also need to understand the importance of maintaining high standards of quality and service as well as cleanliness. The ability to maintain high energy levels whilst working both efficiently and productively is essential.

Quite simply, you’ll be working in our fast moving, high energy environment and you will be required to assist the restaurant management team in operating the store efficiently by maintaining grounds and stock areas in prime condition. You’ll need to work with external contractors to make sure repairs are carried out with minimal disruption to customers. As a key part of the restaurant team, you will work as a supportive colleague and demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm for the standards in all areas of the restaurant inside and out.

Responsibilities
  • Acceptance of deliveries and ensuring proper rotation of stock.
  • Maintain cleanliness of stock areas and overall restaurant environment.
  • Organise and display food products within the restaurant.
  • Support restaurant management in keeping stock areas in prime condition.
  • Co‑operate with external contractors to carry out repairs with minimal disruption to customers.
Interview

The interview is an absolutely vital part of our hiring process. Without it, we wouldn’t get a proper picture of what kind of person you are, and whether you'd be a great fit at McDonalds. The interview will normally involve a set of questions around values and attitudes and will allow the interviewee to really show us why they’re the right person for the job. For instance, we might ask for an example of times you’ve worked as part of a team and how you made a difference to that team. In short, we look for people who have the right attitudes and behaviours to deliver a great customer and colleague experience; we hire for qualities and potential, rather than qualifications.

Career Prospects

Our employees tend to stick around. Partly because it's a fun, sociable and flexible place to work, but also because there are opportunities to progress into roles with more responsibility. In fact, 9 out of 10 of our restaurant managers, and 1 in 5 of our franchisees, started out as crew members behind the counter or in the kitchens. That's an unbelievable stat that we're very proud of. We've also been recognised as a leading employer over the years, offering award‑winning learning, nationally‑recognised qualifications, comprehensive benefits and flexible working arrangements, as well as a well‑proven career path.

Benefits
  • Holiday pay
  • Service Awards
  • Meal allowance
  • Employee discounts from top high street and online brands
  • Premium Shift pay – if you work overnights (midnight‑5am)
  • Above national minimum wage for all hourly‑paid workers
  • Holiday and sick pay
  • Access to discounts at over 1,600 retailers
Sustainability

At McDonald’s, we are working hard to take the necessary steps towards a more sustainable business and future. In 2021, we launched our first (and certainly not the last) net‑zero restaurant. Watch this video to find out more about our new, ground‑breaking store!

Payment

Payment frequency varies depending on whether you work in a franchised or company owned restaurant. Typically, it can be every 2 or 4 weeks for hourly paid employees, and monthly for employees on a dedicated salary.

Shifts

Restaurant hours range from location to location, but over half of our restaurants are open 24 hours a day. We schedule most shifts to suit you, but also take working time legislation and our business needs into account.

Dress Code

You do not have to worry about what to wear to work – we will supply you with a uniform.

Promotion

We highly value talent and always aim to encourage employees to remain within our business. To put it into perspective, half of our Executive Team started in restaurants. At McDonald’s, there are no limits to how far or fast you can progress.
