Job description
Overview

The Role: The primary purpose of this position is to provide line management, support, guidance, oversight, training and development for the DA BDX Team (outsourced – WNS, UK Team). Reporting to the Head of Credit Management, Underwriting & Claims Operations, the role will ensure that the flow of work is effectively monitored and controlled, that the quality of work meets the required standard, that any escalations are handled smoothly, and that the Head of Department is provided with the right level of information to support the smooth operational running of the function. The post holder will positively represent the DA BDX team in dealings with stakeholders internally and externally and may deputise for the Head of Department when required. The role also involves guiding, managing, overseeing, supporting and providing services to the syndicate and other Canopius companies by coordinating the processing of premium and claims bordereaux and providing the subject matter expertise required in this area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily management and oversight of the DA BDX team.
  • Take responsibility for quality control, audit and query resolution arising from the bordereaux process.
  • Analyse, interpret and challenge the weekly and monthly bordereaux processing statistics provided by the outsource team.
  • Oversee the transition of bordereaux to Intrali and any other required systems internal and external.
  • Act as a key team contact to resolve issues that prevent the processing of bordereaux within agreed timelines.
  • Maintain ownership of the identification of data quality issues in line with Lloyd's standards.
  • Engage with Canopius DA Quality Analysts, working on bordereaux remediation with Canopius Underwriters and Lloyds.
  • Liaise directly with brokers and coverholders to ensure robust communication with Underwriting teams.
  • Ensure the outsource provider maintains up-to-date and accurate process and training documentation.
  • Challenge and develop existing MI and report to internal stakeholders, coverholders, brokers and TPAs to promptly notify relevant parties of any perceived new risks or failures.
  • Track, coordinate and monitor the flow of work required to meet team KPIs from a turnaround time and quality perspective.
  • Ensure suitable reprioritisation of work and flexing of resources to meet business needs.
  • Represent the function at all relevant committees, providing comprehensive inputs and updates on key areas.
  • Continually identify, design and implement process and reporting improvements to enhance overall operational efficiency.
  • Review and continue to adhere to internal & external KRIs/KPIs/SLAs.
  • Act as SME for IT systems enhancement and development.
  • Support the Head of Department with ad hoc duties and projects as required.
Skills and Experience
  • Insurance / Lloyd’s experience
  • Knowledge of Lloyd's Delegated Authority business
  • An understanding of delegated authority with strong analytical skills
  • Good working knowledge of the VIPR – Intrali system (essential to the role and preferred) or other BDX mapping systems
  • Extensive knowledge of bordereaux data across a large number of different business lines
  • Excellent communication skills, delivering verbal and visual presentations to internal and external stakeholders including senior management
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel knowledge and skills in other Microsoft Office products to support MI and reporting
  • Ability to handle a diverse range of priorities and tasks in parallel on own and within a team
  • Change centric with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Strong communication and relationship management with brokers, underwriters, and other key stakeholders
