Job description

At E.ON, we’re more than a provider of gas and electricity, we’re shaping a cleaner, more sustainable energy future. Join us as an apprentice and you’ll play an important role in helping our customers take control of their energy use, whether that’s at home, in their business or as part of a city community.

Degree Apprenticeship in Digital and Technology Solutions
Here’s what you’ll be doing

Embark on a four‑year apprenticeship in digital and technology solutions (software engineering) and you’ll be working to support business areas by automating processes and building new solutions to drive innovation. You’ll work with diverse teams across the business through six‑month placements while studying part‑time at Nottingham Trent University for a fully‑funded BSc (Hons) in Digital and Technology Solutions (software engineering). During the programme, you’ll have the opportunity to select placements based on your interests and career goals, like:

  • Spending time with the cyber security team, helping to protect our colleagues and customers through supporting penetration testing, exploring vulnerabilities and investigating fraudulent companies.
  • Contributing to our data strategy.
  • Learning about what E.ON does to contribute to sustainability, getting involved yourself, while helping automate and digitise processes.
  • Understanding how a digital technology operation functions, reviewing budget controls and working with suppliers to fulfil technology needs.
What we need from you

To join this exciting programme, you’ll need:

  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including grade 4 or above in English language and grade 5 or above in maths.
  • 3 A‑Levels including either maths, science or IT totalling 120 UCAS points or equivalent (for example level 3 BTEC in computer science or IT, relevant T‑level). Additional A‑levels which will not be accepted are citizenship skills, general studies and critical thinking. A preceding level apprenticeship or equivalent demonstrable work experience in the occupation area can be reviewed on a case‑by‑case basis.
Here’s what you need to know
  • Your base location will be our Nottingham office. We operate a hybrid working model, so depending on placements you will be expected in the office 1‑3 days a week, with the flexibility to work from home on other days. Company‑funded travel will be required, and you may have placement opportunities at other E.ON sites across the UK.
  • Your academic studies require you to be on campus on day or block release.
  • We offer a starting salary of £21,500, with potential for pay progression throughout your apprenticeship based on academic and placement performance.
  • You may only apply for one E.ON degree/level 7 apprenticeship scheme, so please choose the one that best aligns with your career goals.
