Job summary

Shirley Parsons are supporting a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation in the defence sector to recruit a Quality Engineer to join a growing quality team. This role will suit a quality professional with a strong background in mechanical engineering, aerospace, defence, precision engineering or other highly regulated environments.

Qualifications

• Experience working within an engineering environment and regulated industries.
• Strong understanding of ISO 9001:2015.
• Apprenticeship or engineering qualification preferable.
• Internal Auditor qualification desirable.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience with high-tolerance components and both metric and imperial measurements.
• Knowledge of root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
• Conduct internal audits and support compliance activities.
• Investigate non-conformances and drive corrective actions.
• Lead root cause analysis using tools such as 8D, 5 Whys and Ishikawa.
• Review quality documentation, inspection reports and technical records.
• Monitor quality KPIs and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing, engineering and inspection teams to drive quality standards and operational performance.
