Job summary

Babcock International is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Ashton, Bristol area to specialise in machining methods for current and future defence systems, supporting lifecycle from design through manufacture.

The role covers product ownership of machined components and assemblies, with involvement in estimation, design of innovative fixtures, and collaboration with production, procurement and engineering to deliver reliable manufacturing solutions. Security clearance required.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in milling and turning, with the ability to resolve complex manufacturing challenges.
• Proven experience estimating machining and assembly processes from 2D drawings and 3D models.
• Ability to interpret and work to technical drawings, with knowledge of GD&T requirements.
• Computer literate and able to pick up new software/ERP (IFS/SAP et al.).
• Understanding of various work holding options and the design of innovative fixture methods, with a background in manufacturing engineering being beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Act as the product owner for a range of machined parts and assemblies, both simple and highly complex.
• Provide technical expertise in the development, launch, and support of manufacturing methods for a wide range of machined products and assemblies.
• Maintain product support throughout its manufacturing lifecycle, liaising with various production, procurement, and engineering stakeholders.
• Support the estimation and design of new, innovative designs ensuring they are suitable for manufacture.
• Support technical investment projects engaging with key stakeholders and aligning outcomes to budgets and improvements.
