Job summary

MSI-DS Ltd in the United Kingdom is seeking a Compliance Officer and Security Controller to oversee compliance across legal, regulatory, security and governance requirements, ensuring integrity and robust controls across the organisation.

The role includes managing vetting, risk registers, audits, and incident response, with clear progression opportunities within a defence-focused environment. You will work closely with HR, IT, SHEQ and operations to embed security best practices.

Qualifications

• Experience in compliance, security, auditing, risk management in regulated/high-security environments.
• Strong knowledge of UK Government security frameworks and MoD requirements.
• Experience managing security vetting (BPSS, SC, DV) and government audits.
• Ability to engage with government agencies and regulators.
• Analytical, proactive, with high integrity and discretion.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and industry requirements including GDPR, export controls, ISO standards, GovS007, and Known Consignor regulations.
• Lead security programmes: vetting, access control, classified handling, and security awareness.
• Monitor regulatory changes and implement policies, procedures, and controls.
• Act as Security Programme Manager for the Known Consignor scheme and liaise with regulators and accreditation bodies.
• Manage risk registers and provide assurance to senior leadership on controls and governance.
• Lead internal and external audits, inspections, and corrective actions to drive improvements.
• Develop governance frameworks, reporting, and compliance maturity.
• Deliver compliance training and provide expert advice while supporting investigation and incident management.
• Embed compliance and security requirements into business processes with HR, IT, SHEQ, Operations and other functions.
