Oxleas Prison Services Ltd is a subsidiary of Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, providing pharmacy services to prisons in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Devon, and Dorset.

Job Summary

As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of our pharmacy services. Your responsibilities will include the ordering, receiving, and unpacking of pharmaceutical products in adherence to Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). You will act as a second checker for the administration of Controlled Drugs, conduct regular stock checks, and ensure compliance with all relevant procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Order, receive, and unpack pharmaceutical products according to GDP and SOPs
  • Serve as a second checker for Controlled Drug administration
  • Conduct regular stock checks and expiry date monitoring
  • Manage Medicines Optimisation work in treatment areas
  • Communicate effectively with the Pharmacy/Healthcare department for order placement and query resolution
  • Undertake administration of weekly and monthly In Possession medication to patients
  • Adhere to all relevant legislation, including GDP and financial procedures
Requirements
  • Willingness to undergo National Security Vetting for prison setting employment
  • Proof of right to work, ID, and address documentation
  • Non-UK passport holders require correct documentation and Home Office Share code
  • 5 years of address history (Police Certificate for non-UK passport holders with less than 5 years UK address history)
  • UK Passport holders with over six months abroad during the last three years need a certificate of good conduct or overseas police check
