Summary

Role Summary: As the haematology lead for the London Clinic pharmacy, this position involves managing clinical pharmacy services for haematology areas and overseeing pharmacy technical services staff. Key responsibilities include planning, delivering, and coordinating continuous service improvements in haematology, collaborating with other lead pharmacists, managing rotational clinical pharmacists, and ensuring effective specialist clinical pharmacy and technical services.

Principal Activities/Main Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Pharmacy:

  • Lead an effective clinical pharmacy service for all Haematology areas.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Intrathecal chemotherapy policies as the intrathecal lead.
  • Provide expert advice on new drugs for cancer treatment and supportive therapies.
  • Support systems improvements, practice changes, and cost-effective services.

Management/Operational:

  • Ensure safe, efficient dispensary and aseptic services in the Duchess of Devonshire Wing.
  • Supervise rotational clinical pharmacists and deputize for the Head of Pharmacy.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director Cancer Services to align pharmacy services.

Electronic Prescribing:

  • Build and maintain chemotherapy protocols, collaborating within the electronic prescribing team.
  • Provide specialist clinical pharmacy input and support as a super user of the software.
  • Develop policies, processes, and reports associated with electronic prescribing.

Technical and QA Services:

  • Provide managerial oversight to the aseptic reconstitution service.
  • Manage the Senior Pharmacy Technician for aseptic services and support QA audits.

Non-Medical Prescribing Role:

  • Establish the Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) role for pharmacists at the DODW site.
  • Prescribe medicines within the clinical area of Haematology/Oncology treatments.
