Job summary

George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Decontamination Technician to join the Endoscopy Decontamination team in a fast-paced unit. You will decontaminate endoscopes in accordance with IPC and JAG guidelines, maintain logs and traceability, and support training for colleagues in Decontamination.

The role is 37.5 hours per week, lasting permanently, with a salary of £25,760–£27,476 per annum and a closing date 11 September 2026. Applications from Armed Forces Community are welcome.

• Adhere to IPC and JAG guidelines for endoscope decontamination.
• Maintain daily/weekly logs and traceability of scopes.
• Provide training and support for staff in Decontamination.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate endoscopes in the Endoscopy Decontamination room.
• Liaise with internal and external authorised persons; ensure paperwork is complete.
• Follow IPC and JAG standards and contribute to unit records and traceability.

Responsibilities

• There is an exciting opportunity to join our JAG accredited Endoscopy unit. The endoscopy unit is a fast-paced area with 4 procedure rooms. We undertake diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (upper GI, lower GI, and respiratory procedures).
• You will be responsible for working in the Endoscopy Decontamination room. You will adhere to strict IPC and JAG guidelines whilst decontaminating endoscopes, using AEDs and drying cabinets. You will be responsible for liaising with internal and external authorised persons. The role includes, ensuring paperwork is completed, inclusive of daily/weekly logbooks and traceability of scopes.
• The role will be to provide and support training for other members of staff working alongside you in Decontamination, working to JAG and unit standards.
