A healthcare provider in Walsall is looking for a Supervisor for Decontamination Technicians. Responsibilities include overseeing the reprocessing of medical devices, providing training to staff, and ensuring compliance with quality standards. The ideal candidate should have good supervisory skills, attention to detail, and experience in decontamination protocols. The position includes being part of an on-call rota as needed.
The post holder will be required to undertake supervisory duties within the decontamination science discipline and oversee the workforce of Decontamination Technicians in HSDU and EDU, providing a specialised decontamination of medical devices service contributing to the clinical care of the patient. The role involves receipt, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, packing and, where required, sterilisation of reusable medical devices. All tasks are recorded in the Trust tracking and tracing system and carried out in accordance with the Department’s Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Management Systems. The holder will provide supervision and oversee training of new staff and Apprentice Decontamination Technicians, plan their own workload with limited supervision, and will be exposed to blood and body fluids.
