A public health provider in Scarborough is seeking a Decontamination Technician to contribute to infection prevention strategies. This role involves preparing environments for decontamination, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and working across various sites. Candidates should have relevant cleaning experience and willingness to obtain necessary certifications. Position: Decontamination (HPV/UV-C) Technician – Facilities Management, York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals
An exciting opportunity to join the YTHFM team at Scarborough Hospital. You will contribute to the Trust’s Infection Prevention and Control Strategy by preparing and executing decontamination processes safely across wards, departments and non‑clinical areas. The role involves lifting, handling equipment and long periods of standing, and may require travel to other Trust sites. Overtime and travel are possible for those who wish to do so.

Salary: £24,937 to £26,598 a year

Working pattern: Full‑time
Education (essential): Inivos Equipment user Certificate – HPV and UV‑C (or willingness to complete within 12 months).
Education (desirable): Maths and English GCSE or Level 2, IOSH certification.
Experience (essential): Knowledge and experience of specialist cleaning, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Experience (desirable): Knowledge and experience of decontamination.
Skills (essential): Manual dexterity, manual handling and working at height, full driving licence.
Skills (desirable): Awareness and appreciation of infection prevention issues.
Aptitude and personal qualities (essential): Ability to work in a team, across all sites, and to plan, organise and adjust work activities to meet service demand.
