Main duties of the job

Thisrole provides the following services to the Trust: -

Thesuccessful post holder will be the line manager for the 2x Supervisors and17x Technicians to achieve the appropriate agreed outcomes and conform to allagreed practices, policies and procedures. They will deputise for the SeniorDecontamination Manager in their absence, in any aspect of their portfolio.They will support the Clinical Service Units in the implementation of thestrategic objectives to ensure that the service delivers the requiredcompleted outcomes across the Trust.

Effectivemanagement of the decontamination hubs to ensure that the operationaldelivery plan is achieved on time, to the required local and nationalstandards relating to Health Technical Memorandum 01-06: Decontamination offlexible endoscopes.

Tooversee the decontamination of re-usable medical devices within thereprocessing units and ensure that efficient and effective processes aredeveloped and followed in line with the Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy:(JAG) accreditation and Medical Devices Directive 93/42/EEC.

Theywill provide vital contribution in supporting the overarching departmentalstrategy, including sustaining effective financial performance.

Job responsibilities

Thesuccessful candidate/ post holder will have direct management responsibilityfor the operational effectiveness of the Decontamination Services delivery ofthe endoscope reprocessing hubs. Collaboratively working with Estates &Facilities, Clinical colleagues and Trust specialist decontaminationContractors, will be a key aspect of the role. There will be a primary focus onimproving the environmental compliance aspects of Trusts decontaminationservices, including direct engagement with senior Clinical and InfectionPrevention & Control colleagues. The post holder will be responsible forensuring the sustained safety and effective operation of the endoscopereprocessing hubs, ensuring clinical demand for endoscopes (medical devices) isdelivered compliantly.

Qualifications
  • Extensive experience functioning at a senior managerial level in a healthcare and management of facilities related services
  • City & Guilds HTM 01-06 User certificate
  • Active membership of a relevant NHS association or equivalent
  • To have completed recent appropriate management/ Patient Environment courses and have formal management training
  • High level Health & Safety qualification i.e. NEBOSH
Experience
  • Knowledge of Mandatory and Statutory Regulations relating to Decontamination Services
  • To have extensive experience and knowledge of the full range of Patient Environment operational management experience within different locations.
  • To have current experience and a proven track record in managing operational teams that impact Patient Safety
  • To have the skills to support the implementation of any/all parts of the decontamination strategy and development plans.
  • To have knowledge and experience of a range of managerial disciplines, including staff management, finance, commissioning, risk management, performance management, service development and change manag
