Job summary

Brodies LLP, a leading UK law firm with a Glasgow base, is seeking a Debt Recovery Paralegal to join the Debt and Asset Recovery Team. The role focuses on commercial debt recovery and asset recovery for UK clients, with a client-focused, proactive service ethos.

You will work under the Legal Director and engage in court processes, client liaising, and detailed reporting while maintaining high standards of professionalism.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of Scottish debt recovery procedures and enforcement methods.
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
• Ability to work effectively with other team members and manage own caseload.

Responsibilities

• Liaising with clients regarding sums due to them and advising on the available options and costs.
• Managing your own caseload using a case management system.
• Regular contact with clients, customers and third parties by telephone, email and general correspondence.
• Dealing with undefended court actions in the sheriff court for recovery of money and/or assets via Simple Procedure, Summary Cause and Ordinary actions as appropriate.
• Instructing diligence, sheriff officers, other solicitors, investigation agents and insolvency practitioners.
• Preparation of bankruptcy and liquidation petitions.
• All administrative tasks in connection with debt recovery including preparing fee notes, producing reports and statistics and conflict checking.
• Comply with firm's time recording policy.
