Job summary

Prophet SA, UK & US is seeking an experienced DBA to join our ERP-focused software house in Coventry. You will manage and optimize SQL Server environments across customer deployments, ensuring reliability and performance in fast-moving projects.

Key duties include T-SQL development, index and query plan tuning, and disaster recovery planning, with Azure SQL experience a plus. Salary negotiable, on-site role in Coventry, UK.

Qualifications

• Strong T-SQL skills with deep SQL Server fundamentals (indexes, statistics, plans, DMVs).
• Experience with relational design, normalization, constraints, and OLAP/OLTP concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize T-SQL queries and procedures.
• Maintain and tune SQL Server instances across multiple environments.
• Design and optimize relational schemas with appropriate constraints.
• Troubleshoot performance issues and implement best practices.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and Azure-based deployments.
• Collaborate with data services team and stakeholders.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced DBA to join an established & industry leading ERP-based software house

List Of Duties Include But Are Not Limited To:

• Established skills in T-SQL programming
• A deep understanding of Microsoft SQL Server fundamentals including, indexes, statistics, query plans, tempdb, installation, configuration, DMVs and, troubleshooting
• A good understanding relational table design including normalisation, constraints, OLAP vs OLTP, traditional data warehousing
• Experienced in critical thinking and troubleshooting
• Experience with Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed instance would be beneficial
• Experience with Power BI would be beneficial but not essential
• Ability to communicate confidently with technical, non-technical, internal, and external personnel

This is a chance for a well-qualified, and experienced DBA, to use their wider experience to step into a senior role in our core data services team. In a fast moving and intellectually challenging environment, our goal is to improve overall user satisfaction through product design and delivery.

The system operates on a complex set of SQL Server databases across many different customer environments (including AWS and Azure). Working closely with the Head of Data Services you will be responsible for a wide scope of database support functions including, design, support, performance, and disaster recovery.
