Job summary

InPost UK is looking for a Gatehouse Coordinator to join the Lutterworth hub, based on-site. You will manage trailer movements, bookings, and visitor checks to keep operations flowing smoothly.

In this fast-paced front-line role, you’ll work at either the inbound or outbound gatehouse, ensuring health and safety compliance, accurate trailer handling, and clear communication with yard teams and site colleagues to deliver top-tier logistics service.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to welcome visitors professionally and liaise across departments.
• Ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure.
• Basic IT skills (email, MS Excel) and ability to learn internal IT systems.
• Accurate with strong attention to detail.
• Understanding and appreciation for health and safety compliance.
• The legal right to work in the UK is required for all applicants.

Responsibilities

• Booking trailers into the Hub using the Yard Management System (C3) with real-time visibility.
• Carrying out regular yard checks to monitor trailer positions and bay allocations.
• Supporting yard operations and shunters; coordinating trailer movements and instructions.
• Monitoring yard activity and resolving issues with Operations Managers.

In this front-line role, you’ll be based at either the Inbound or Outbound Gatehouse, where you’ll play a key part in the smooth and efficient flow of trailers through our hub. Using our Yard Management System, you’ll be first point of contact for visitors to site and responsible for booking and checking vehicles and trailers in and out of site, coordinating parking and trailer movements within the yard according to operational needs accurately and efficiently.

What you’ll be doing:

• Booking Trailers into the Hub: Utilising our advanced Yard Management System (C3), you’ll accurately manage the booking in and out of all inbound and outbound trailers. Your attention to detail will help maintain real-time visibility of trailer movements and ensure efficient flow through the site.
• Carrying Out Regular Yard Checks: You’ll be responsible for performing comprehensive yard checks at regular intervals throughout your shift. This includes monitoring trailer positions, ensuring correct bay allocations, and verifying compliance with health, safety, and operational standards.
• Supporting Yard Operations & Shunters: Act as a key liaison between the Gatehouse and Shunting teams. You’ll respond to trailer-related queries, provide clear instructions on trailer positioning, and help coordinate timely trailer movements to and from designated bays.
• Monitoring Yard Activity: Maintain constant awareness of all yard activity, identifying any inconsistencies or operational issues. You’ll work closely with the Operations Managers to resolve problems quickly and ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

What we need from you:

• Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment advantageous.

• Basic IT skills, i.e. email, MS Excel and ability to learn internal IT systems (C3 Yard Management System).

• Understanding and appreciation for health and safety compliance.
