Job description

Salary: £40,000 - £46,500 per annum plus overtime and Veolia benefits

Hours: 42.5 hours per week

Location: Camelford, PL32 9XW

We are looking to recruit a Day Shift Technician to be at the forefront of driving innovative solutions that create a more sustainable future for all. The role includes occasional participation in a cover rota, typically no more than 2 days per month.

This exciting role offers diverse opportunities across a comprehensive range of electrical and mechanical work, with a primary focus on electrical systems including industrial wiring, PAT testing, fixed wire testing, system controls, and steam boiler electrical systems.

What you'll be doing:
  • Carry out work as per schedule supplied by the Contracts Manager or Supervisor.
  • Complete site documentation before and after work tasks.
  • Liaise with subcontractors during planned service maintenance.
  • All work on site to be carried out in accordance with site EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) and Veolia EHS rules and guidelines.
  • Flexibility to work on equipment in all buildings and around Maintenance Shutdowns
  • Participate in Audits of the Mechanical and Electrical plant rooms and follow up on actions
  • Carry out routine and statutory planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive and breakdown works to all mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ensure that the Steam & Hot water boilers are maintained as per OEM specifications.
  • Ensure that plant faults and defects are swiftly rectified to maintain the plants in serviceable order at all times (24/7).
  • Maintenance and publication of plant quality records and reports.
  • Carry out daily routine operational tasks to plants that will comply with legislation and company policies.
  • Provide shift coverage to maintain operational continuity when shift technicians are on holiday, ensuring all duties and responsibilities are fulfilled during their absence
  • This role involves some lifting, working at heights and/or in confined spaces
What we're looking for:
Essential
  • City & Guilds 2382 - 18th Edition (17th Edition also considered)
  • Experience with electrical systems, single motor and three phase motor maintenance and installation
  • Ability to read and understand P&IDs/electrical drawings and an understanding of Instrumentation
  • Understanding of safety protocols
  • Equipment troubleshooting and diagnostics, and preventive maintenance procedures
  • Computer literacy and software applications
  • Good understanding of mechanical systems
  • Reading technical manuals and schematics
  • Quality control procedures
  • Documentation and record-keeping
  • Communication skills and teamwork and basic IT and networking skills
  • Industry-specific regulations and standards
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience of troubleshooting and repair of industrial electrical systems; and related mechanical experience
Desirable:
  • Boiler Operations Accreditation Scheme (BOAS)
  • City & Guilds 2391
  • Medium Risk Confined Space
  • Health and Safety qualifications and awareness, risk assessment, method statement training, competence in issuing and use of all company Permit to Work systems would be preferential, however, training will be provided where appropriate
