Job summary

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions in London seeks a skilled Day Shift Engineer to perform planned and reactive maintenance on critical building systems. The role operates on a 4 on/4 off days-only shift pattern at a high-end commercial site in London, focusing on reliability, safety, and client satisfaction.

The engineer will manage HV/LV distribution, HVAC systems, and building services, ensuring regulatory compliance and accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds Electrical Competency Parts 1 & 2 or equivalent.
• 18th Edition IEE Regulations
• Time served electrical apprenticeship or equivalent experience
• Experience in critical environments
• Experience with CMMS and BMS systems
• Knowledge of Permit to work processes
• Strong customer relationship skills
• Ability to read technical drawings
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications
• HV switching qualification/experience

Responsibilities

• Delivering routine planned preventative maintenance across HV and LV systems, plant and equipment, and HVAC systems.
• Monitoring Building Management Systems (BMS) for running and alarm conditions.
• Attending to air conditioning and client issues.
• Conducting building walk-rounds and taking meter readings.
• Preparing accurate and timely reports.
• Ensuring repairs comply with regulations.
• Assisting with installation works and on-call duties.
• Developing understanding of portfolio buildings and layouts.
• Building relationships with Facilities Managers and client staff.
• Adhering to safe working practices and quality standards.

We’re seeking a skilled and experienced Day Shift Engineer to join our team at CBRE Global Workplace Solutions on a 4 on / 4 off, days-only shift pattern at a high-end commercial site in London. You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality planned and reactive maintenance across critical building systems.

About the Role

As a Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Delivering routine planned preventative maintenance tasks across HV and LV distribution systems, plant and equipment, and HVAC mechanical cooling and heating systems


• Monitoring Building Management Systems (BMS) for running and alarm conditions


• Attending to air conditioning-related client issues


• Conducting building walk-rounds, taking meter readings, and investigating faults


• Preparing accurate and timely reports


• Ensuring corrective and repair works are carried out in accordance with current regulations


• Assisting with installation works and participating in emergency call-out rosters


• Developing a comprehensive understanding of our portfolio buildings, their layouts, functions, and complexities


• Building strong relationships with Facilities Managers, client staff, and representatives


• Endorsing safe working practices, quality standards, and best practice methods


• Volunteering ideas and initiatives to improve service levels and delivery


• Call out and overtime when needed

Requirements

• City & Guilds Electrical Competency Parts 1 & 2 or equivalent


• Good building services knowledge and experience in critical environments


• Excellent customer relationship skills


• Working knowledge of \"Permit to work\" systems and technical drawings


• Experience with CMMS and BMS systems


• Time served electrical apprenticeship or equivalent experience


• Experience working in a similar sector


• HV switching qualification/experience
